Summer Camp Programs

Bishop’s Summer Programming 2017:

Bring your kids to Bishop’s Orchards for our Farm Educational Series. Each Summer Program is 2-days, running on Mondays & Wednesdays from 9am-12:00pm (except for Compost and You, which will run on Wednesday & Friday due to 4th of July). Age range is included with each camp description. Please pack a snack for your children to break with. Descriptions and online registration information can be found for each session


Week #1 – Strawberry Discovery – CLOSED

 

 

 

 

 

Come join us at the farm as we learn all about strawberries: Where do they come from? How do they grow? Campers will get hands-on-experience planting their own strawberries, observing the plant up close to identify its many parts. Campers will also create their own snacks using the strawberries from our farm.

Activities:

  • The Fabulous Five- discover 5 elements crucial to a plant’s survival
  • Dress a Strawberry
  • Strawberry Patch Day
  • Creating Strawberry Snacks
  • Strawberry Taste Test

Ages: 4 to 10 years old

Week #2 – Compost & You:

This is a camp that encourages kids to get down and dirty. Campers will learn how composting starts from simple scraps left behind in the kitchen, to the refuse left behind by nature. Campers will discover the difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials. We will learn how worms play an important part in composting.

Activities:

  • Make a compost cake
  • Go on a worm hunt and have a worm race
  • Discover the difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable

Ages: 4 to 10 years old

Week #3 – Wildflower Discovery:

Have you ever wondered where wildflowers come from? During this two-day program, campers will gain experience learning about the many elements needed to make wildflowers. Campers will make their own soil from scratch and plant a native wildflower to take home.

Activities:

  • Soil recipe- learn what soil is made of
  • The Fabulous Five-discover 5 elements crucial to a plant’s survival
  • Plant a zinnia
  • Create a bouquet

Week #4 – Blueberry Discovery:
